Think back to when you were a kid on summer break. Perhaps you’re lying in the backyard under a big, beautiful tree watching the leaves rustle in the breeze. You’re thinking about how you have the whole summer ahead of you. What adventures are to come? Where will you go? Who will you meet? The possibilities are endless.
And you knew this in your heart.
Anything and everything was truly possible. I bet you got up every day that summer and seized the day. I bet you went where you felt guided to go. One adventure led you the next and you followed the breadcrumbs, so to speak.
It was magical.
Now, I want you to be completely honest here — when was the last time you felt that kind of magic? Do you feel inspired in your day-to-day life? Does life flow?
Or…do you wake up, hit snooze a few times, finally drag yourself out of bed only to rinse and repeat exactly what you did yesterday — all while dreaming about starting the life you really want “tomorrow?”
I used to feel that way– and would always tell myself, I’ll start that project or explore that dream tomorrow. But, I’d wake up the next day and get sucked right back into to work, family situations, errands…basically, the stress of the day. I was allowing my stress patterns to block the flow. I felt so tired + depleted that I would often say ‘no’ to the very things that were meant to come my way.
Stress has a way of giving you blinders.
I truly believe that the number one way to close yourself off to life’s little guideposts + nudges (you probably know by now that I absolutely believe in the power of synchronicity!) is to give in to stress on a regular basis.
High levels of adrenaline + cortisol from your nervous system’s “fight or flight” mode keeps your body on high alert. As a result, you miss the subtle nuances that make day to-day life so special, and you may fail to see the possibilities.
You lose the magic.
What you do get are feelings of overwhelm and pressure, lack of motivation, restless sleep and poor health.
If you’re not feeling that “kid on summer break” kind of magic at least a few times a week — and I’m going to level with you here — you have some work to do.
Here’s what I want you to remember: the gifts of life are here with you NOW— in the present moment.
Stress blocks the flow; mindfulness brings back the magic.
Bring your thoughts, focus and energy back to the present moment.
How? Do one action step today that puts your “I’ll do it someday” plans into motion.
The magic happens when you realize the perfect moment you’re waiting for never actually arrives and there’s always going to be a new “tomorrow” to chase. Start taking action now.
The perfect moment is the present moment.
Wishing you lots of HIGH VIBES and lots of those little magical moments that keep you inspired along the way!
